One Month to ‘I Do’: Checking In With Sarah & Trevor’s Wedding Planning Journey
This wedding has been an especially meaningful one for all of us at Plannerd. Not only have we had the privilege of following Trevor & Sarah throughout their wedding planning journey, but the bride is also Plannerd's very own Head of Marketing. She's spent countless hours helping couples discover the tools, inspiration, and resources they need to plan their dream weddings, so it's been incredibly fun to watch her role reverse.
Over the past several months, we've shared milestones, planning updates, and behind-the-scenes moments as their vision has come to life. Now, with just one month until "I do," we wanted to check in one last time before the big day.
We asked Sarah & Trevor to reflect on the journey so far, share what they're looking forward to most, and offer a little advice for couples who are in the thick of planning. Here's what they had to say.
If you could give "Day One of Wedding Planning You" one piece of advice, what would it be?
Sarah: No one will care what color your napkins are. Go big on the things people will remember, like the entertainment, the food, the guest experience…but not everything needs to be over the top. It’s very easy to fall into a dreamy Pinterest rabbit hole. Also, do what you want and don’t listen to anyone else’s opinion! It’s your day.
Trevor: Nail down as precise of a budget as you can very early on. Second to that, use a system to keep everything organized (like Plannerd) or hire a wedding planner, because the amount of emails and contracts will get crazy very fast. Organization is key.
What's been your favorite memory from the planning process so far?
Trevor: Getting to do tastings with our caterer and bar, we had so much fun. I also loved visiting the wedding venue.
Sarah: All the trips to Montana we’ve gotten to take! Collaborating with our vendors and building out this event in one of my favorite places on earth has been so cool and made me SO excited about seeing all our friends and family experience Montana.

What's something your fiancé has done during planning that made you appreciate them even more?
Sarah: Wedding planning was a lot more stressful than I had anticipated and I put a lot on myself since it’s my industry and I felt like I had to. Trevor was really great about reminding me that we’re a team and can still have fun while planning. He’s made time for date nights and made sure we didn’t get consumed by the stress.
Trevor: EVERYTHING. She had a vision from the beginning and watching her execute it has been insanely impressive and that’s not a skill I excel at so having her lead that and let me be a part of it has been awesome.
What's one thing you're most excited to see about your partner on wedding day?
Trevor: I am most excited to see Sarah enjoy the fruits of her own labor for an event she has worked so hard to bring to life for the past year.
Sarah: I’m so excited to see our vision come to life and see Trevor have the best time ever with all his family and friends surrounding him.

Is there one detail you can't wait for your guests to experience?
Sarah: Everything. We made this such a guest-centric experience so there will be LOTS of interactive stations and things to do. I don’t want to give anything away yet! Just know it will be a great time. I can’t wait to recap it after.
Trevor: This is niche, but I’m most excited for people to see the custom cocktails. We really fine tuned what we wanted and picked out unique glasses. I’m also excited to see guests interact with the horses! We’re getting married at a Clydesdale ranch.

If you had to describe your wedding vibe in just three words, what would they be?
Trevor: Beautiful, Colorful, Memorable. No one will forget this wedding.
Sarah: Unique, FUN, kitschy
What are you most excited about after the wedding?
Sarah: Being done with wedding planning lol. I’m just so looking forward to being able to focus on our new life as husband and wife and setting goals for what’s next. Starting with a vacation!
Trevor: I am most excited for the week following the big day. We’re staying in Montana to enjoy the lake and hangout with friends and family that we don’t get to see often which should be really fun.

If future couples watching this are one month out from their wedding, what's one piece of advice you'd give them?
Trevor: Try and get everything done early so you can give yourselves a few weeks to just be excited and enjoy this phase of life.
Sarah: We went to dinner with my parents a few weeks ago and my Dad told me he wanted me to try and enjoy the next few weeks as much as possible. That’s been replaying in my head and I’ve really been making an effort to enjoy the little things and have fun. It’s been so needed!
